Hello, my name is Mark "Marcus" Mortera. I am a certified Cloud Solutions Architect currently focused on Amazon Web Services platform.

I have over 6 years of experience in customer service both customer-facing and contact center roles, as well as being highly skilled in sales such as cross-selling, upselling, and optimization of existing plans and services, going over and beyond customer satisfaction.

I have managed and led a successful team composed of more than 10 life insurance sales agents in the financial sector, educating our clients about their current life insurance policies and investment strategies. Promoted healthy competitions within the organization to increase productivity and sales within my team. Promoted to Regional Sales Leader and recognized as one of the top-producers in the organization.

I am making a career transition in Cloud Computing coming from my previous role in the financial industry as I find it incredibly exciting. I have always loved the Tech world and it’s always been my dream to be involved in its dynamicity and innovation, and working with Cloud would make this dream fully realized.

Technical Achievements

Taught myself and dove deep in the main AWS’ Cloud Computing services with extensive hands-on utilizing these technologies and implemented a truly serverless full-stack web application using the the AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM CLI).
Built and deployed RESTful API’s using AWS API Gateway and configured Lambda functions to integrate with the API’s via Lambda Proxy integration.
Developed Lambda functions written in Python using the AWS boto3 SDK that update and gets values in a DynamoDB Table for this website’s visitor number using DynamoDB’s atomic counter.
Configured an Amazon S3 Bucket for static website hosting with the applicable bucket Policies that restricts direct access to the host bucket itself and only allow a Cloudfront distribution for access via the Origin Access Identity feature of Cloudfront.
Deployed a Cloudfront distribution to act as a Content Delivery system for the web application hosted in the S3 bucket and configured an SSL certificate so that traffic is converted to HTTPS.
Wrote Infrastructure as Code for a custom SAM template for the web application. SAM uses Cloudformation in the background to handle the deployment process.
Created Github Repositories for version control and Github Actions to implement a CI/CD Pipeline for both front end and backend development.
Installed Wordpress/Apache web servers in EC2 instances and designed a resilient, secure, highly available, scalable and fault-tolerant architecture utilizing different AWS services such as Route53, ALB, NAT Gateways, IGW, Security Groups, Network ACL’s, Cloudwatch for monitoring, EFS, ASG, IAM Roles, Cognito, Cloudfront, S3 and RDS MySQL with different DR options.

Role Description
